About Us
Started in 2014, Sand & Pine Magazine brings to life the stories and people of the Sandhills through dynamic photography and inspiring writing. Our goal is to entertain, engage and enlighten through tales that define and express our unique community. Never too serious, always absorbing – Sand & Pine Magazine is the primary source for life in the Sandhills of North Carolina.
Greg
Greg Girard is editor and co-founder of Sand & Pine Magazine. A Connecticut Yankee, but with more than a decade living below the Mason-Dixon Line, Greg still describes good things as “wicked” and will still sometimes ask for a “grinder” at a sandwich shop. Greg has more than 10 years of media experience in newspapers and magazines. A diehard Liverpool FC fan, he’s ready to talk soccer to anyone that will listen. Greg lives in Pinehurst with his wife Heather and two children, Jackson and Ellie.
Amanda
Amanda Jakl is creative director and co-founder of Sand & Pine Magazine. A Southern Pines resident for the past 14 years, Amanda is a Wisconsin native who only occasionally misses the snow. Amanda has more than a decade of experience in communications and social media, including radio, magazines and non-profits. You can usually find her tending to her extensive collection of houseplants or eating her weight in crepes at Betsy's. She's a wee bit obsessed with clean sheets (with just a hint of bleach!), The Mandalorian, her cat Victor, and dog Humphrey.
